Best Wedding Venues in Kannur: 7 Places With Real Numbers

Seven wedding venues in Kannur compared by guest capacity, rooms, parking and listed prices, with a photographer's note on each and what to check before the advance.

Updated September 2026 by the Fog Media team, wedding photographers based in Kannur since 2009.

If you are searching for wedding venues in Kannur you will find plenty of directory pages and very few numbers. This guide puts seven venues side by side with what actually decides the choice: how many guests fit, whether there are rooms, how the parking works, what the listed prices are, and what to check before you pay the advance. The figures come from the venues’ own listings on WedMeGood, WeddingWire, WeddingBazaar and Mandap as of September 2026, so treat them as a starting point and confirm on the phone.

1. Kairali Heritage Resort

The largest set of spaces on this list. The listing shows a mandapam-style banquet hall for 1,200 seated and 1,800 floating, a poolside area for 600 seated, and a conference hall for 350, with 28 AC rooms, a bridal room, and parking for about 500 cars with valet. Listed catering is around Rs 500 a plate for vegetarian and Rs 1,250 for non-vegetarian, with rental quoted between Rs 40,000 and Rs 1,00,000 a day depending on the space. External decorators and DJs are allowed and outside food is permitted, which is unusual for a resort.

Photographer’s note: a 1,200-seat hall means a long walk from the entrance to the stage. Plan the couple’s entry so the crew is in position early, and keep the poolside for evening portraits once the ceremony is done.

2. Exora Conventions, Talap

A fully air-conditioned convention centre near Thalap Mixed UP School, about a kilometre from Kannur railway station and 800 metres from the stadium complex. The main hall takes 200 to 800 guests, with the venue listed for 25 to 1,000 overall. Parking is listed at roughly 400 cars, which for a city venue is the number to notice. Listed per-plate prices start around Rs 200 with in-house catering, and rental without catering is listed at Rs 1,30,000 a day. External caterers are allowed, there is a bridal dressing room, and alcohol is permitted.

Photographer’s note: an indoor AC hall means we bring our own light. Ask the venue whether the stage backdrop can be lit separately from the hall, and keep one wall clear for family group photos.

3. Mascot Beach Resort, Burnasseri

Running since 1997 near Baby Beach, this is the beach venue most Kannur families already know. The lawn seats 200 with a floating capacity of 300, the indoor banquet hall takes 80 to 110, and there are 30 rooms. Listed catering is in-house only at about Rs 400 a plate for vegetarian and Rs 450 for non-vegetarian, taxes extra. Outside decorators and DJs are permitted; alcohol is not served and cannot be brought in.

Photographer’s note: we have photographed here. The lawn faces the sea, so an evening reception gets the last light for free. For a morning muhurtham on the lawn, ask for the mandap to be placed with the sea behind the couple rather than behind the guests.

4. Malabar Residency, Thavakkara Road

A city hotel on Thavakkara Road with three halls, listed for 50 to 300 guests in the main banquet space, and somewhere between 40 and 59 rooms depending on the listing. Per-plate pricing is listed around Rs 350, with menus covering South Indian, North Indian, Mughlai and Chinese, and there is in-house catering, decor and DJ with outside vendors also allowed. Alcohol is permitted.

Photographer’s note: we have photographed here too. With rooms upstairs, getting-ready photos and the ceremony happen under one roof, which saves an hour of travel on a tight morning schedule. Ask for the hall with the highest ceiling if you have a choice.

5. Perch by the Sea, Adikadalayi

A newer property, established in 2020, about 3 kilometres from the city centre on Beach Road. Two outdoor lawns are listed: a small one for 50 seated and a larger one for 350 seated with 500 floating. There are only 7 rooms, so this is a venue for the function rather than for housing the family. Rental is listed at Rs 80,000 a function, taxes extra, with catering through panel caterers, and outside decorators, DJs and alcohol are all permitted.

Photographer’s note: open lawns by the sea are at their best in the hour before sunset and unkind at noon. If the muhurtham is mid-morning, ask about shade for the mandap and keep the family portraits for late afternoon.

6. Riftha Hall Convention Centre, Valapattanam

An indoor AC hall on Manna Road in Valapattanam, north of the city, open since 2018. Listed capacity is 170 seated and 300 floating, which suits an engagement, a nikah or a reception where the guest list is tight. Catering is in-house, outside decorators are permitted, there is an in-house DJ with outside DJs allowed, and functions under 50 guests are accepted. Listed decor starts at Rs 50,000.

Photographer’s note: a 170-seat hall fills quickly, so agree the stage and aisle layout with the decorator in advance and leave a lane for the photographers to move without crossing the video frame.

7. NNS Auditorium

For the big traditional wedding, the listing shows 1,000 to 1,500 guests with per-plate catering around Rs 600 for vegetarian and Rs 800 for non-vegetarian. Auditoriums like this are what most Kannur temple-hall weddings look like: a large indoor floor, a stage for the ceremony, and a separate dining hall turning over in batches.

Photographer’s note: in a hall this size the dining line runs through the ceremony. Assign one photographer to the stage and one to the family, and confirm where the muhurtham will be timed so the crowd is in place.

What to check before you pay the advance

  • Seated versus floating. Listings quote both. For a sit-down sadya, only the seated number counts.
  • What the rental includes. Some venues quote hall rent alone and add catering, decor, generator and cleaning separately. Ask for the total for your guest count in writing.
  • Turnover time. Busy halls run two functions a day in season. Ask when the previous function ends and when your decorator can get in.
  • Parking and the drop-off point. Where the couple’s car stops decides where the entry photos happen. Walk it once.
  • Rooms for the family. A venue with rooms saves the morning. Without rooms, book the getting-ready hotel within ten minutes of the hall.
  • Rules on outside vendors. Catering, decor, DJ and alcohol rules differ at every venue on this list. Confirm before you book your own.
  • Light for the photographs. Ask whether the stage has its own lighting and whether the hall has windows. It changes what your photographs look like more than any other decision.
