Wedding Photography in Kannur

Wedding photographers covering Kannur and North Kerala

Fog Media has photographed weddings across Kerala since 2009, and Kannur is home ground — our team is based here, so there are no travel costs on a North Malabar wedding. Sreesanth leads our Kerala weddings, has been shooting them for over fifteen years, and holds a Kerala State Photography Award (2017). We photograph a wedding for how it will read in twenty years, not for how it looks this season.

Our Approach

Photography That Feels Natural

A Kerala wedding is a morning wedding. The muhurtham falls early, the ceremony itself is short, and there are far fewer rituals than at a North Indian wedding. That sounds easier. It isn't — a shorter ceremony means there is no second chance at anything, and no long afternoon to recover a frame you missed.

So we staff the morning properly: a candid photographer, a traditional photographer, a videographer, a cinematographer and drone. Your family wants the portrait everyone is looking at the camera for. You want the frame nobody noticed being taken. Those are two different jobs, and one camera does them badly.

Start Your Story

Wedding photography in Kannur usually means three things at once: a ceremony that starts before dawn at a temple or in a family courtyard, a reception across town that evening, and the Malabar coast somewhere in between. We have photographed weddings across North Kerala since 2009 and the team lives here, so we plan around what actually moves a Kannur wedding — muhurtham timings, monsoon light, and halls that turn over between families.

Where we’ve worked in Kannur

Payyambalam Beach, Bekal Fort, Mascot Beach Resort and Malabar Residency, among others — alongside a great many home weddings, which in North Malabar are often the ones with the most life in them.

What complicates a Kannur morning

The muhurtham rush. Auspicious dates cluster, so several families are often marrying the same morning at the same temple or hall, and the space turns over quickly. We plan for a compressed timeline and limited access rather than assuming the venue is ours.

The monsoon. For a good part of the year the weather decides your outdoor plans. We shoot through it — a lighting plan for a dark hall, and an alternative for every outdoor sequence, so rain changes the photographs instead of cancelling them.

What our wedding photography in Kannur includes

Most couples book candid coverage and a cinematic film together, with traditional portraits for the family album. We also shoot pre-wedding sessions — Payyambalam Beach, St Angelo Fort and Mappila Bay are the locations couples ask for most — along with engagements, haldi and mehendi. Finished work from across Kerala sits in our wedding photography gallery.

Weddings we shoot in North Malabar

Thiyya and Nair ceremonies, Mappila Muslim nikah and reception, church weddings, and the mixed-tradition weddings that are increasingly common here. Each runs to its own order of events, and each has a moment that matters more than the rest — the thalikettu, the nikah, the exchange of rings. Knowing which one is coming next is the difference between catching it and hearing about it afterwards.

When to schedule a shoot on the Malabar coast

December to April gives the most reliable outdoor light, and it overlaps with Theyyam season along the North Malabar coast, which is worth knowing if you want ritual colour near your dates. June through September belongs to the monsoon. That does not rule out shooting outdoors, but it means planning around covered spaces and short weather windows rather than hoping. Mornings hold the best light on the coast — Payyambalam in particular goes flat by mid-afternoon.

Coverage beyond Kannur

Kannur is home ground, but a North Malabar wedding rarely stays in one district. We travel regularly to Calicut, Kasaragod and Wayanad for the same wedding party, and further for destination celebrations. If you are still choosing a venue, Kerala Tourism’s Kannur guide is a reasonable place to start on the coastline and the Theyyam calendar.

Booking wedding photography in Kannur

Dates go early here, particularly around the muhurtham clusters in the dry season, so it is worth asking about availability before you finalise the hall. Send us the date, the venue and the events you want covered, and we will come back with what wedding photography in Kannur costs for that specific day rather than a package number built around somebody else’s wedding. If you would rather see the work first, our guide to pre-wedding shoot locations in Kannur shows how these places photograph across the seasons.

Good to Know

Questions couples ask us

Do you only shoot destination weddings?

No. A good share of our Kannur work is home weddings and local venue weddings.

Are you okay with home weddings?

Yes, and they’re some of our favourite work. A house on the morning of a wedding holds more than any hall does.

Can you cover multi-day, multi-location weddings?

Yes. Our team of 24 lets us run parallel coverage when events overlap or move between towns.

Do you travel for pre-wedding shoots?

Yes.

What does it cost?

We don’t publish fixed packages — a one-day home wedding and a three-day multi-location wedding aren’t the same job. Tell us your dates, the venue and roughly the coverage you have in mind, and we’ll quote for that.
